Discover your own personal constitutional blueprint (doshic type)
Explore the primary tools to keep body, mind, and spirit in balance through diet, lifestyle, and other healthful living tools
Experience daily yoga, breathing, and meditation practices designed for your type and for the season.

Ayurveda and yoga have existed side by side for thousands of years in their native India. The yogis in the village were also the Ayurvedic doctors in most cases. Modern yoga trainings are now encouraging students to learn more Ayurveda and deepen their understanding of both sciences. This 5 day training will introduce the science of Ayurveda to those teachers grounded in yoga. We will explore:
Common philosophical underpinnings to both yoga and Ayurveda
Historical background
Five element theory
Tri-doshic theory
Introduction to the gunas
Introduction to Ayurvedic anatomy and physiology (how we see the body from an energetic systems perspective)
Digestion and nutrition
Daily routine/seasonal routine
Asana, pranayama, meditation and mantra for balancing the body, mind, spirit

Thai Yoga Massage Training
with Jonas Westring October 15 - 19, 2008
Practiced for centuries in the temples of Thailand, Thai Yoga Bodywork incorporates the Buddhist practices of mindfulness and compassion with the use of assisted yoga postures from Ayurveda. Through a seamless, mindful meditative dance, the practitioner gracefully moves the receiver’s body through a full range of possible movement.
The Thai Yoga method is based on the northern style of Traditional Thai massage with additional, supportive perspectives from both yoga and bio-mechanics. This professional intensive prepares you to give a complete 90-minute traditional Thai Yoga session. You will learn a highly effective sequence of traditional techniques including therapeutic stretching, joint mobilization, deep-tissue compression, toning of energy pathways, acupressure, hatha yoga poses, meditation, and breathing techniques. Safety consideration and proper, therapeutic application of all techniques will be addressed in-depth. With regards to the Thai healing tradition and to further support students understanding of its ancient roots, cultural aspects will be addressed.
The Thai Yoga method emphasizes optimal wellbeing not only for the receiver, but also of the practitioner. This program will teach you the essence of a transformational healing art while simultaneously give you a direct experience of its deeply rejuvenating powers.
Ideal for yoga teachers who wants to expand their hands-on repertoire and one-on-one yogic tool box, this training will give bodyworkers, massage therapists and others in the healing arts – not only a new effective healing modality – but a deeply therapeutic and rejuvenating 5-day period to enjoy.

Yoga Service & Retreat for Home of Hope Orphanage

Dec 28-Jan 6th
Optional additional week Jan 6-11th
There are many different yogic paths, but all essentially have the same overall purpose: the transcendence of the ego-personality and realization of the transcendent Self. Yet the means employed to achieve this goal vary considerably.
In the Classical Yoga of Patanjali, meditation was the central practice with asana and pranayama playing a minor, supporting role. This relationship was essentially reversed with the evolution of the Tantra and Hatha Yoga traditions over a millennium ago. In these traditions, the mind is brought under control and the Self realized by altering the flow of prana, the life-force energy of the body. Consequently, Hatha Yoga emphasizes a great many techniques for physical cleansing and stabilization of the body’s energies including the extensive use of asana. However, the heart of Hatha-Yoga is unquestionably the manipulation of prana through the use of breath (pranayama). These practices will be the central focus of this program
In this workshop, we will:
Explore the similarities and differences between Classical and Hatha Yoga through the examination of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra (Aphorisms of Yoga) and the Hatha Yoga Pradipika (Light on Forceful Yoga) by fourteenth-century sage Swatmarama.
Develop a strong foundation in advanced pranayama practice under the guidance of a skilled teacher
Learn a variety of breathing techniques and their role in the cultivation and channeling of pranic energy.
Explore the skillful use of antara and bahya kumbhaka (breath retention); and mula, uddiyana, and jalandhara bandhas (the locks)
Learn about the shat kriyas (six cleansing actions) and their role in the physical and energetic purification process.
Experiment with ways to incorporate these practices into a deep spiritual practice
Learn teaching methodologies for safely and appropriately sharing these practices with your students.
Engage in practice teach sessions
Yoga teachers and advanced practitioners from all traditions are welcome.
