Retreat FAQ

What kind/style of your retreat is this?

Just like the classes we offer at Wilmington Yoga Center, our retreats offer different styles of yoga including flow practices, yin yoga and gentle and meditation practices.  Classes will be held both indoors and outdoors where possible.  Meals are fresh and healthy and specific food requirements or preferences can be addressed.

Is plane fare included in the cost of the retreat?

The retreat cost does not include plane fare.  You are responsible for securing your own flights to and from the retreat.  In the past many of our retreat participants have used Lorna Tiller as a travel agent. Travel agent Lorna Tiller can be reached with questions regarding travel plans at email [email protected] and at phone number (910) 763- 8446, ext. 17512.

Oftentimes retreat participants choose to begin or end their trip with additional travel in and around the country hosting the retreat.  It is especially helpful to use a travel agent when booking travel for these additional travel destinations to be sure that all legs of the journey fit together.

Travel Tip: We also recommend that you contact the airlines directly as there may be unpublished fares available directly through the airline that are not available online.  Once you have found this fare Lorna will be able to secure it for you, or you can book it yourself if you choose.

Will we all be on the same flight?

Everyone attending will be booking their flight separately so its highly unlikely that everyone attending will be on the same flight.

Do I have to be “good” at yoga or even do yoga to participate in the retreat?

All Kunga Journeys include daily yoga classes, but they are 100% optional.  Some of the yoga classes will be all levels classes and some will be more vigorous.  We are happy to have you participate in all, some, or none of these classes!  This is your retreat, and we want you to feel comfortable choosing which activities you would like to be a part of throughout the length of your stay.

Some retreat participants choose to use this time to rest, sight see, or participate in local activities outside of the retreat itinerary.

Where are the teachers from?

All teachers attending the retreat currently teach at Wilmington Yoga Center.  All of our teachers are experienced, compassionate and dedicated practitioners who will do their to best to ensure you have an amazing experience.

Do I have to participate in all retreat activities?

All Kunga Journeys retreat activities are entirely optional.  There will be an itinerary of yoga classes, volunteering, or a group excursion each day which are included in your retreat cost.  Your participation is completely voluntary.

Some retreat participants choose to use this time to rest, sight see, or participate in local activities outside of the retreat itinerary.  We respect and encourage you to make this time your own and to meet your needs each day.  Our one request is that you take care of yourself so that when we are together as a group at the volunteer portions of the trip we can move with one mission – sending love to these beautiful children!

Will there be free time for other are activities?

Absolutely!  You are always welcome to arrange any activities that you are interested in.  These costs are not included in the package with Wilmington Yoga Center but all are welcome to create any schedule that helps you make the most of your experience!
