Teaching Trauma-Sensitive Yoga: A Training for Yoga Teachers

This 3-day course will cover Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and the impact of trauma on the brain and the body, current treatments and the subjective experience of the survivor. The workshop focus will be on why and how to modify yoga to make it more trauma-sensitive. David Emerson is the Director of Yoga Services at the Trauma Center at JRI in Brookline Massachusetts, where yoga has been used as an adjunct treatment for PTSD for several years with a variety of groups, from survivors of chronic childhood abuse and neglect, to teenagers, to war veterans. Examples of integrating trauma-sensitive yoga into all of these communities will be given.

What you will learn:

    • trauma sensitive yoga
    • how to connect to yourself
    • build a connection with your body through gentle breath and meditation
