The word retreat means to withdraw or go to a place of seclusion and quiet. Humans need to take opportunities to reconnect with themselves and escape the distractions and constant stimulations engrossing our modern society. Gigi Yogini of Mindbodygreen articulates five reasons to attend a yoga retreat.

This spring Wilmington Yoga Center is taking students on an all inclusive retreat to Prama Institute conveniently located near Asheville, North Carolina April 28th-30th, 2017.

Here are 5 reasons to attend our retreat this spring

Deepen your practice.

The leaders of the retreat, Jamie Annette and Allison Lloyd, have a wealth of experience teaching and practicing yoga. They are respectively 500 hour ERYT and 200 hour RYT Yoga Alliance certified instructors. Both are passionate about yoga, meditation, travel and exploring the great outdoors. Jamie lead a retreat to Prama Institute last spring and Allie frequents the mountains every year to indulge in hiking excursions and personal retreats to enjoy the serenity nature provides. Jamie and Allie are overjoyed to share their passion with students and fellow retreaters. Throughout yoga’s history many students seek a deeper knowledge of the practice, which is best understood through a deeper, more personal instruction from a teacher. What better opportunity to get to know an instructor than to spend a whole weekend practicing, hiking, and relaxing with Jamie and Allie.

Unwind in beautiful location and retreat center.

The eco friendly resort is located in Marshall, North Carolina 20-30 minutes outside of Asheville. The resort style accommodations offer a great getaway to the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains. Students have the opportunity to practice yoga in the eco-friendly dome and eat nutritious meals grown and prepared on site. What better way to unwind and practice total self care?

Asheville, North Carolina.

North Carolina is a state rich in culture and natural wonders. The great city of Asheville is no different. Enjoy the splendor of the mountain scenery and the tucked away Art Deco, rustic vibe of Asheville. There is plenty to entertain a traveler for a weekend with the dichotomy of restaurants, activities, hiking trails, and cultural sites to explore. Find out more about Asheville on their website.

Shake up your routine and get out there!

Our dinacharya, which is the sanskrit term for daily routine, is hugely important in maintaining balance in our daily lives. Learn more about the ayurvedic routine in “The Daily Routine,” by Vasant Lad. However, sometimes life gets stale, or we need a respite to recharge and unwind mentally, physically, and spiritually. When this occurs it is sometimes beneficial to step outside of your comfort zone to grow. Augustine of Hippo correctly asserted, “The world is a book, and those who don’t travel only read one page.”

Having fun!

On this retreat you will not only enjoy the comforts of the accommodations at Prama, but also you will give yourself the opportunity to have fun! You will connect to many fellow travelers, practitioners and have a choice to make of this weekend exactly what you need.

Always, remember you deserve to be happy and live the life of your dreams. Take the leap and we will see you in the mountains 🙂
