Jackie Robert Lew, 500RYT, is a yogi and a mover, a teacher and practitioner, a part-time philosopher, and an avid student of nature. Oh also, a meditator, surfer, life coach, musician, brother, son….

Before finding yoga, Jackie played water polo, boxed at an amateur level, and provided personal training in the Miami area. He began taking yoga classes while in college, and simultaneously, he shifted majors from engineering to philosophy and began finding more joy in his practice and less joy in getting punched in the nose. In 20017 he completed his 200-hour training at Tropical Vinyasa in Miami and then in 2018 he traveled to Baja California Sur, Mexico to complete his 300-hours at Yandara Yoga Institute. He achieved advances certificates specializing in vinyasa, yin, restorative and bhakti yoga; living yoga alchemy, and life coaching.

While traveling internationally, Jackie developed a greater perspective of the diversity of the yoga practice, as well as the experiences and expertise that was shared by fellow practitioners. After spending the past year abroad, Jackie and his partner have settled down here in Wilmington. Attracted to this areas by the ocean and greenspaces; the accessibility of outdoor activities; and the potential to plant a garden, grow some roots, and join this community. When Jackie isn’t teaching or practicing, you can find him surfing, perusing bookshelves, or engaging in environmental activism.

“My dharma is to support people on and off the mat. The postures of yoga are merely a reflection of how we live and interact in the world, and I strive to help people live more consciously whether achieved through a physical practice or flexing the mind’s habits, patterns, and beliefs.” – Jackie Robert Lew
