Mt. Mitchell Yoga + Hiking Retreat

October 8-11, 2026

Join Wilmington Yoga Center in the tranquil beauty of Mt. Mitchell, the highest peak in the Eastern U.S., for a transformative 4-day, 3-night yoga retreat designed to ground and elevate your practice. Set in the serene Mt. Mitchell Eco Lodge, this retreat offers a harmonious blend of yoga, nature, hiking, and mindful connection to the five elements: earth, water, fire, air, and space.

Experience the grounding energy of earth, the flowing waters of the region, the transformative power of fire, the fresh air of the mountains, and the spirit that unites all.

Each day will begin with an energizing yoga and meditation session, followed by a nourishing breakfast prepared by our private chef. Afternoons are spent in nature, with the opportunity to hike through surrounding mountain trails or rest on property in hammocks and front porch rockers. Evening yoga classes will help you unwind and relax, with themes woven around the elements that surround you. Conclude the day with a wholesome meal to nurture your body, time by the fire, and stargazing. Mt. Mitchell is a dark-sky destination, which means it’s free from light pollution and offers excellent views of the night sky.

Yoga:

We take pride in the versatility and quality of offerings we provide during yoga retreats. Guests can expect two yoga classes daily, one in the morning and one in the later afternoon/evening. Morning classes are higher energy – basic flows, power flows, etc. Evening classes allow students to wind down from their day- restorative, yin, gentle, slow flows. Classes are always optional and tailored to the students that arrive. All levels.

Optional Spa Services (Not included in retreat price):

Our goal is to provide guests as much opportunity to relax and restore the body, mind and soul as possible. There is a dedicated bungalow next to the Main Lodge as a place for guests to book wellness sessions – the Healing House. Our retreat coordinator will help arrange spa services for any retreat guests interested. Massages range in price from $100-$150 for 60-90 minute sessions. Testimonials

What our 2025 Mt. Mitchell Retreat guests had to say:

“Enrollment process was seamless and the pre retreat communication was excellent and very informative.”

“Wilmington Yoga strives to bring you the most ideal setting for a yoga retreat centered around what you need for your own personal experience and healing. They pour their hearts and souls into making the experience so memorable.”

“The love and planning that went into this retreat was felt from the moment we arrived. The yoga themes carried throughout the weekend were so well thought out. The setting was perfect….The quiet. It was truly a healing time for me and I just wanted to soak everything in and be so super present. This brought me so much joy and fun during a time that I am struggling finding any nugget of joy on a daily basis.”

“What a grounding and peaceful experience! From the hikes to the yoga (with an amazing theme weaved throughout the retreat time) to the food. The long weekend was full of joy and love!!”

“There was enough balance of activites and down time. We never felt rushed or pressured to do anything.”

Retreat Leaders

Erin Powley, RYT500, RCYT

Erin Powley has been teaching joyful, grounding, and transformative yoga classes to students of all ages since receiving her 200-hour Mindfulness-Based Yoga certification in 2021. She has gone on to attain her 300-hour certification from the Wilmington Yoga Center in 2023 and her 95-hour Kids Yoga Teacher Training from Youth Alliance Yoga of Chicago in 2025. Influenced by teachers Jess Bichler, Noelle Whittington, and Frances Murchison, Erin aims to weave mindfulness, compassion, and playfulness into every class.

Erin is the director of Wilmington Yoga Center’s Kids Summer Camps, co-creator of the 15-hour Conscious Kids Yoga Workshop, and lead teacher in WYC’s kid’s yoga series.

She offers a unique invitation for playfulness and creativity in her adult vinyasa yoga classes at Wilmington Yoga Center, where she rounds out her professional role as studio manager, head of marketing, and retreat coordinator. Erin leads both national and international retreats rooted in the understanding that we all benefit from opportunities to unplug and reconnect with our inner sense of wonder and adventure.

Her own journey began in 2017, when yoga helped her ease anxiety and reconnect with her body. Today, she finds inspiration in the simplicity of mindful movement-using breath and presence to feel steady and balanced. Erin revels in the sense of play yoga can spark, and presents a lighthearted, down-to-earth approach to yoga for all of her students.

Jenn Williams, ERYT500, YACEP

Jenn first set foot on a yoga mat in 2010 and has hardly stepped away since! She was practicing massage therapy at a local spa and yoga studio, and tried her first class there. She was offered a place in a 200 hour teacher training program in 2011 and jumped right in! She loved learning about the history and philosophy of yoga and the different ways to integrate it into her life and the lives of her students. After teaching for about a year, she took a hiatus to raise her 2 children. In 2019, she decided it was time for a comeback and took the Mindfulness and the Eightfold Path 200 hour training with Frances Murchison and Jamie Annette. It was such a life changing experience; she couldn’t wait to share all she learned with everyone! She was offered an intern position at Wilmington Yoga Center and started training in the 300 hour Kunga Service Leadership program. The internship allowed her access to teaching public classes straight from training, along with a mentorship under Jessica Bichler. In 2022, Jenn graduated from her 300 hour training and internship and is now a registered RYT 500 instructor. Her classes are energetic and playful; incorporating music, breath and movement to create a space that is truly welcoming for all.
