A choice of light Thai Massage from an experienced on staff massage therapist may be included during this class. No experience necessary.

Hot Power Flow classes are a creative fusion of teachings from different lineages and movement modalities, practiced in a heated room (99+ degrees). This class works on strengthening and stretching the body, while moving through the major muscle & joints in the body. You may expect balance work, arm balances, inversions and creative transitions within the flows of this class. Mix classes have a varied sequence. Morning Energy Flow - Mix

Morning Energy Flow connects movements with the breath to create a dynamic practice. This practice includes basic asanas, while moving towards some more challenging ones as well. This class really allows the student to move into the options that will best suit them. Modifications, props and options will be given for all levels of practitioners.

HOT Slow Flow - Mix

Hot Slow Flow classes are held in the Fire room, which is heated to 99+ degrees. The heat allows for purifying, heat-building practices that stretch and strengthen the body safely. Participants can slow down and heat up at the same time in Slow Flow yoga classes. The slower pace makes these classes accessible to those new to practicing in the heat. This class is open to all levels, although some prior yoga experience is recommended.

Note: Please bring a towel and drink plenty of water before your class.

Gentle & Meditation - Mix

Gentle yoga is an unhurried, therapeutic yoga class introducing postures and breathing techniques that gradually build flexibility and strength. It is suitable for those new to yoga, with special physical concerns, or who simply wish to move at a slower pace. Gentle yoga is for absolutely anyone of any age, shape or size who wants to experience the many benefits of yoga. All levels of practice are welcome, and no experience or flexibility is necessary.

Warm 5Elements Earth Flow - Set

The emphasis within the 5Elements Earth Flow yoga class is on grounding, creating stability, and building strength. This is cultivated through a series of hip opening salutations and standing and supine hip-opening postures. All levels are welcome, as we move through a slow, but very strong and deep vinyasa practice; completing with a restorative savasana and longer period of meditation. Set classes have a set sequence. The series of poses will be the same regardless of the teacher.

Yin Deep Stretch- Mix

This class focuses on connective tissue and its relationship to the meridians of the traditional Chinese medicine system. Postures are held on the floor, passively, and props are used when necessary. It is a quiet practice with Awareness Meditation (Vipassana) practiced in conjunction with the postures.

Warm Sunrise Flow - Mix

The level of these classes vary depending on each teacher’s style and creativity, and the class sequences always offer something new!

Yoga HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training)

Yoga HIIT combines the fluid movements you see in a typical power yoga setting with strength building exercises to increase the heart rate periodically throughout the class. We begin by appropriately warming the body to transition into more intense and dynamic movements throughout the namaskars. This class will be taught in a non heated room so that the heat (agni) may be induced naturally in the body. This is an all levels class, as options will be given throughout. Props, including blocks, blankets, sand bags and weights will be integrated into class.

Hot Ashtanga Flow

This class is taught with the traditional namaskars and asanas which show up in the Primary series. Taught in the Fire room (around 99 degrees), the class is slower paced than a more traditional Ashtanga class. This class is taught without music and led in a quiet manner. Power yoga experience is encouraged for this class.

Note: Please bring a towel and drink plenty of water before your class.

Hot Yin/Yang Flow

This class is taught in the Fire room (99+ degrees). This class is designed for the student who is looking for some movement as well as some longer held asanas. The class is split with some vinyasa style movement in the beginning leading into longer held poses (may use props) towards the end. This is a peaceful and well-balanced class.

Note: Please bring a towel and drink plenty of water before your class.

Yoga Teacher Training FAQs

Committing to a 200hr or a 300hr yoga teacher training is a big deal! We want to make sure all your questions are answered before you register. If your questions aren’t answered below, please contact us for more information about our yoga teacher programs.

Are books and materials included in the price of the training?

An electronic copy of your student manual is included in the price of your 200hr training. If you would like a printed and bound copy of the manual, ready on the first day of training, this is an additional fee. We find it extremely beneficial to have a printed copy for note taking, sequencing, and quick reference.

Any other required texts must be bought separately. Required texts for the different trainings may be available at WYC, we suggest coming in to see what we have in stock. If we are out of any of the required reading books, we can direct you where to purchase them.

When will I find out if I have been accepted into the program?

Acceptance into our programs is granted based on your application and on a first-come, first-served basis. All applicants + participants are required to have a current email address for all correspondence. After you submit your completed Teacher Training Registration, you will be contacted via email within 7 days. Your tuition will be processed upon receipt.

How proficient in yoga do you have to be to do the program?

To benefit the most from our 200hr program we recommend a foundation in basic and fundamental yoga postures. Therefore, we suggest that applicants have six months of practice with an experienced, certified (RYT) yoga teacher. If you are brand new to yoga, this would not be an appropriate program to participate in unless you are choosing to go through the program for personal growth only. About 1/3 of our participants choose to participate for personal growth and healthy lifestyle immersion, and do not participate in the practice teach sessions. This is optional based on your needs.

That being said, the 200hr Teacher Training program is designed for aspiring teachers, as well as people with a regular yoga practice who want to simply deepen their own personal experience. Remember: An advanced practitioner is not necessarily someone who can move deeply into advanced postures. An advanced practitioner is someone who comes to the mat with a level of maturity, a willingness to learn and understand the limits of their own body.

To participate in any of our 300hr programs, we suggest that you have already obtained a your RYT200 from a Registered Yoga School and have begun teaching public classes, though this is not required.

What is the typical age range & class size of the participants?

Students generally range in age from 20-70 years of age. Class sizes in the past have ranged from 10-20 participants depending on location. Trainings are limited to help maintain an interactive student-teacher relationship, and programs with more than 25 participants have up to two teaching assistants in addition to the director.

What if I miss a class?

To receive your 200hr or 300hr Certificate, you must attend 100% of the required hours to comply with Yoga Alliance requirements. However, we understand that you may not be able to foresee every conflict, or have prior family obligations, so if you miss a session you are welcome to schedule private make-up sessions or discuss attending other appropriate modules for an additional fee. To cover the material you have missed pending approval from the Yoga School Manager.

Do you offer scholarship or work-exchange programs?

We offer highly competitive partial scholarships each year to prospective students for each training. We also have a limited number of work trade positions available. To apply for a scholarship or work trade position, go to our Financial Aid page for more information. Spaces are limited and very competitive, and not available for every session, so apply soon! In order to be considered, scholarship/work trade applications must be received 3 months prior to the training in which you plan to enroll.

How much time should I expect to spend on homework and outside classes?

Expect to spend about 40 – 50 hours on your written assignments and assisting/teaching live classes. The homework is designed to support the material covered in class and help you integrate what is presented into your own practice and teaching. You will receive details regarding your projects on the first day of your Teacher Training Program. Please check your email regularly. You will also receive emails on topics, updates, & schedules. Email will be our primary form of communication with you. If you are not planning on teaching after this course, you may choose not to complete the homework assignments and take the course for non-credit. However, if you wish to receive a Certificate for the course, you must attend all the sessions and complete all the homework assignments.

Do you help organize accommodations?

We have a number of students that come to our yoga school from NC, SC, VA, MD and various other locales. We do not organize accommodations for students. We can certainly aid in general housing questions, regarding local hotels/airbnbs/rentals/etc.

What is the Yoga Alliance?

Yoga Alliance is an organization that was started in 1999 as a way to create nationally recognized standards for yoga teachers and yoga teacher trainings. More and more yoga studios across the country are requiring their teachers to register with the Yoga Alliance, either at the 200 or 500-hour level.
