New to Yoga?

We were once too!

Yoga is for anyone willing to give it a try. If you’re breathing, you’re capable of yoga..it’s all about finding the right type of practice to meet your needs. And that’s what we are here for!

Newcomer Specials

One month of unlimited yoga (in person and streaming) for $30 – must live locally and be taking our public classes for the first time.

If you feel comfortable in a group setting and are not working with any major health concerns, try as many classes as you like this month. We recommend classes labeled ‘all levels.’ You can always leave class or rest on your mat if it’s helpful. But take advantage of our Yoga Advisors and amazing teaching staff to help you find the right class today.

Take advantage of our FREE Intro to Yoga Workshop – first Tuesday evening of each month.

If you are not quite sure what to expect and would like time with our warm and welcoming staff and other new students join us for this 75 min overview. We’ll discuss studio etiquette, best practices, and breath and movement basics. You’ll have time to ask any questions you need to feel ready to begin.

Newcomer Private Package – get three private sessions for the price of two.

If you feel more comfortable in private or with a small group of your own friends or family, or if you are working with health concerns you’d like addressed regarding your specific needs, private sessions are the perfect setting. Use them to gain the knowledge you need to feel comfortable in public classes, or continue as long as you like with your very own yoga teacher, one on one, building your own personal practice.

Yoga Myths & Truth

MYTH: I’M NOT FLEXIBLE ENOUGH TO DO YOGA

Truth: Everyone starts somewhere.

It is very normal to feel tight and this varies from day to day. Don’t worry if touching your toes seems “out of reach” at first (pun intended). The good news is that with regular practice, yoga is a great way to safely and effectively improve flexibility.

MYTH: YOGA IS TOO SLOW AND NOT ENOUGH OF A WORKOUT FOR MY ROUTINE

Truth: It depends on the style of yoga class.

Yoga classes can be totally non-physical and consist of readings, chanting, breathing or service to others. Yoga classes can also be purely physical and as challenging as a gym workout. Some styles of yoga, such as Gentle are indeed slow paced, but Flow or Vinyasa classes offer a faster, dynamic pace and some unique cardio and strength challenges compared to other fitness “workouts.” A benefit of adding yoga on top of a standard workout is that it helps heal injuries, improve chronic illness, and balance mental stress. The best way to find the right yoga class for you is to ask the front desk for some options and try out some different classes on the schedule.

MYTH: MY MIND IS NEVER QUIET SO I CAN’T MEDITATE

Truth: Meditation is training for your mind, like lifting weights is training for your muscles.

Meditation is training your mind to focus on one thing at a time. It is so important for concentration, productivity, and stress reduction. We encourage everyone to find the style of meditation that feels helpful, and enjoyable enough to do regularly. In some classes moving with awareness of the breath is meditation. In other classes we may sit or lay still and be guided by our teacher’s words. Just like a workout, some days it feels easy and fun, other days it’s a challenge. Once you find your routine you’ll wonder how you functioned without this little mental reset.
